The published bus options
The airport locates its bus area beside the P1 car park. When checked on 17 September 2026, it listed LU-NA’s airport–central Tirana link as hourly, 24 hours a day, with a 30–40 minute journey and a fare of 400 ALL / €4. It also listed an airport–South and North Bus Terminal link every hour from 07:00 to 18:00, taking 20–30 minutes and costing 300 ALL / €3.
Use the central service for a city stay and the terminal service only when the onward intercity departure has been confirmed with enough margin. These are volatile operator details: revisit the official airport page before travel rather than treating the checked values as a future guarantee.

Taxi or arranged transfer
A taxi or pre-arranged transfer can be worthwhile for a late arrival, several travellers sharing the fare, substantial luggage, accessibility needs, a child seat that has been confirmed, or accommodation beyond an easy bus stop. Confirm the official pickup procedure, vehicle, total price and payment before entering the car. Do not accept an unverified fixed price reproduced by an editorial page.
An arranged transfer should solve the first-night problem, not encourage a long overnight journey across the country after a flight. If the destination is several hours away, sleep in Tirana or near the airport and begin the intercity route in daylight.

Protect the return flight
Work backwards from check-in. Add the journey from the accommodation, realistic road or bus variation, airport arrival margin and a backup. A Riviera, mountain or multi-bus return on the morning of an important flight leaves no recovery path.

Choose the first night before the transfer
A central Tirana room supports the published centre bus, walking and a car-free first day. An airport-area room supports a very late arrival, early departure or a traveller who needs sleep before continuing. A same-night intercity move is only sensible when the onward operator, departure point and arrival are all confirmed with recovery time.
Book the room for the actual arrival conditions: reception hours, luggage, lift or stairs, child equipment and the route from the drop-off point. A cheaper property can become the expensive choice when a late taxi or inaccessible final walk is added.
